Description

An adult Duocote lacerta. Some newborns are up for adoption here- [link]

Anywho, took me about three hours. The lines were just a two minute doodle I did while watching Dexter. >> Basically just to practice my Digital shading. It's been forever.

Full grown male lacerta that I might or might not keep. I'm going to make myself one either way, but I haven't decided on a design. >> YEEEEESSSSSS HE'S MINE NOW. HE IS MY NERO AND I LOVE HIM~

Lacerta are fast a vicious breed of predator. They hunt in packs, similar to wolves or lions. They stand about three feet tall at the shoulder, not counting the large fleshy crest that rises out of their backs. This fin can be raised or lowered by using a bone located in between the first pair of shoulder blades. This fin is used to alter course during chases (much like a rudder), maintain body temperature, and to communicate with others of their kind. Their tufted "ears" are actually not ears at all, but simply tufts of fur. Their real ears are holes located at the base of the tufts. The right hole is significantly further down than the left hole, which helps the Lacerta pinpoint sounds.

Lacerta have three pairs of legs tipped with spike like claws that they use to dig into the ground as they run. Lacerta have been known to top speeds of 50 mph (80 kmph). Their two tails (the spine forks just after the hips) allow for better balance and sharp turns. Lacerta are a bit lacking in strength when it comes to combat, so they make up for it with blinding speed and flexibility. A Lacerta can fit anywhere it can fit its head. Their spines are so flexible that they can twist their body completely around, so that each pair of legs faces a different direction. This makes it extremely difficult to damage their spine.

Lacerta come in many different colors. Most common are browns and greys, with blacks and whites being less common. Sails and neck flaps can be any bright color. Although they are usually both the same, occasionally they will be different colors. They are intelligent, social creatures that can be readily domesticated as long as they bond with their owner, in which case they are loyal and will readily sacrifice themselves for their human counterpart. They only bind with one person, however, so they are not considered good "family" pets as they will attach themselves to one person.

They have teeth similar to crocodiles, and occasionally one will be seen with teeth that show even with the mouth closed. They cannot chew and swallow their prey whole. They are not picky about what they eat, although a lone Lacerta is more prone to eating small animals and occasionally human garbage, while Lacerta in pack tend to prefer large game that they can hunt together. Males tend to have brighter frills than females, but this isn't necessarily true. Vocalizations range from mewling and purring (when content) to screeches (for long-distance communication and when threatened).

Soooo..... tired.......
